Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday said that he was pained by the statements issued by Aniruddh, son-in-law of late actor Vishnuvardhan, against him and the state government, over the memorial for the actor.

Speaking to reporters here after paying last respects to JD(S) senior leader H S Prakash, who passed away on Tuesday, the chief minister said that Aniruddh should have control over his language.

“I am pained over his statements referring to me as ‘udaaphe CM’ (negligent chief minister)” he said.

“I was not the chief minister when Vishnuvardhan passed away. His family had decided to conduct the cremation at Banashankari crematorium. I had spoken to the then chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and actor Ambareesh to conduct the last rites with state honours. Maybe he is not aware of this”, he said.

Kumaraswamy said that actors Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan and Ambareesh had contributed a lot to the Kannada film industry. “While I have learned lessons of life from Rajkumar, I have worked with Vishnu and Ambi and have great respect for them. Let him (Aniruddh) understand this before he speaks. Did he take permission before coming to meet me? People should not misuse my patience. Please do not politicise the issue”, he said.

There is confusion over the memorial between the Vishnuvardhan’s fans and the family members, he added.
