Sporadic protests

JD(S) workers staged a protest in front of Halappa’s residence in Basaveshwarnagar. They alleged that women were not safe under the BJP rule and sought resignation of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa owning moral responsibility.

Twenty Congress workers were arrested when they barged into the chief minister’s residence on Race Course Road while venting their ire against Halappa.

A few women’s organisations also held protest rallies in different parts of the City and demanded stern action against Halappa and protection to the family members of the victim in Shimoga.
