Udupi DC office to be opened by May 10

Speaking to media persons after inspecting the progress of ongoing construction works of complex building here on Saturday, he said the 1.34 lakh sq ft structure is coming up in three set ups comprising DC office, ZP and auditoriums.

A sum of Rs 19 crore has been released in the first phase and Rs 7.65 crore in the second phase. Additional sum of Rs 2 crore is needed for furniture settings and we have sent the proposal to Chief Minster and Revenue Minister requesting the same. The work is done by Karnataka Housing Board under the supervision of Vasudev Shetty, he added.

He said all offices concerned that come under district administration will be shifted to the new complex. The auditorium structure comprises two auditoriums. The main auditorium will have capacity for 500 seats with central air conditioning system. The other will be mini-auditorium with 100 to 200 seating capacity. The basement of the building will include treasury office, canteen and post office. About 40 offices related to ZP will be shifted, he said.The interlocking system, landscapes, lawn and parking slots are on the list and work will commence shortly. The action plan also includes bus stand and auto rickshaw stand.

Many readjustments need to be done as present CMC building is very congested and inconvenient. Measures will be taken to build spacious structure to CMC office, Acharya informed.He gave away Rs 1 lakh cheque to Manoj Kotiyan for the treatment of his two-year-old son Vishal who suffers from leukemia.
