Narayansa Bhandage, BJP MLC, said on Monday that he would have shot dead “anti-national” elements opposing the hanging of Parliament attacker Afzal Guru, had he been at the JNU in New Delhi.
“I would have gunned them down with an AK-47,” the MLC told a press conference. Such a step would discourage anyone from raising a voice against the country, the legislator said, adding that student leader Kanhaiya Kumar - who had organised an event in this regard - was also a terrorist.
Raising slogans in favour of Guru could not be called freedom of expression. He said it was unfortunate that the so-called intellectuals had not come out against such acts. Bhandage also took on the Congress for “instigating” the controversy.
