LeT operative Mohammad Qasim Gujjar declared designated terrorist

Gujjar, an LeT operative, caused numerous deaths, injuries with terror attacks, the Home Minister said.

New Delhi: The union government on Monday designated Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Mohammad Qasim Gujjar, the mastermind of several terror attacks, as a terrorist under anti-terror law.

The notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)  said the he was involved in carrying out "wide range of terrorist activities including coordinating, supplying, identifying locations of drone for dropping of arms, ammunition, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and cash etc. and delivering and managing consignments from across the border". 

Gujjar (32), who hails from Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, has become the 57th person to be named individual terrorist under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. He is currently residing in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the notification said.

Earlier this year in January, the government designated Satwinder Singh alias Goldy Brar, a gangster suspected to be involved in the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala and associated with Sikh separatist outfit Babbar Khalsa International.

“An operative of the Lashkar-e Taiba (LeT) Mohammad Qasim Gujjar has caused numerous deaths and injuries with terror attacks and is involved in planning war against Bharat. Anyone found involved in activities against the unity and integrity of the nation will be dealt with ruthlessly,” Home Minister Amit Shah said on 'X'.

According to the notification, Gujjar was also involved in various terror attacks, bomb blasts and was responsible for causing death and injuries to a number of persons in these terror incidents. To widen areas of terror activities, it said, he has been involved in creating new terror modules by recruitment and radicalisation by various means, including social media and other online encrypted communication applications.
