Mumbai's 16-yr-old Kaamya Karthikeyan becomes youngest girl to scale seven highest peaks in the world

Mumbai: Mumbai-based Kaamya Karthikeyan scripted history by becoming the youngest girl in the world to scale the seven highest peaks across seven continents.

During the Seven Summits Challenge, 16-year-old Kaamya scaled Mt. Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mt. Elbrus (Europe), Mt. Kosciuszko (Australia), Mt. Aconcagua (South America), Mt. Denali (North America), Mt. Everest (Asia) and Mt Vincon (Antarctica).

The young Everester reached the summit of Mt Vinson (Antarctica) along with her father, Commander S Karthikeyan, on December 24, 2024 at 1720 hrs Chilean Standard Time to complete the Seven Summits Challenge.

Daughter of an Indian Navy officer, Kaamya is a Class XII student at Navy Children School in Mumbai.

Kaamya is also a recipient of Rashtriya Bal Shakti Puraskar.

She is now attempting the Explorer's Grand Slam, an adventurer goal to reach the North Pole and South Pole, as well as climb the Seven Summits - Everest, Aconcagua, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Vinson and Pancak Jaya/Kościuszko.
