The price varies in each state after local levy.<br /><br />“This step has been taken to avoid problems to consumers in case of emergency or some temporary problem in piped gas supply,” an oil ministry official said. <br /><br />Until now, PNG suppliers had insisted on PNG consumers surrendering LPG connection within 60 days of PNG supply. But, according to the new notification issued by the government, the suppliers cannot exercise this option.<br /><br />Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), which supplies PNG to over four lakh consumers in Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad, would provide piped gas connection to a consumer only after taking a written assurance that the person would surrender any LPG connection taken in the name of any family member.<br /><br /> The members of the family are defined as husband, wife, unmarried children and dependent parents living together in a dwelling unit having a common kitchen, IGL executives said. IGL supplies gas to more than 4.2 lakh households in Delhi and neighbouring Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.<br /><br />The official said that the relaxation could be effected only now after the direct transfer of cooking gas subsidies in beneficiaries' accounts helped stop its diversion. The government has so far been able to block close to 70 lakh false connections so far.</p>
