Reels, quote cards, op-eds: Congress' game plan to spread 'Nyay Path' resolution

New Delhi: Post personal video messages, prepare reels and quote cards in local languages for social media and write op-ed articles – Congress has asked its local leaders to aggressively take the message of the ‘Nyay Path' resolution of the Ahmedabad AICC Session to the people.

Insisting that the Ahmedabad Resolution is “not just a policy statement” but a “battle cry for the defence of India’s democracy, dignity, and diversity”, the Congress central leadership wants the aggressive pitch of its social justice agenda and an intense fight against the BJP to reach the grassroots.

The party is now, on a war foot, training its district presidents to take the message to the booth level through a combination of traditional campaign methods like distributing pamphlets and holding press conferences as well as using new age social media to reach out to its constituents.

“Let us rise to the occasion and ensure that its message echoes in every street, town, and village of our country,” Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal said in an inner-party circular on Friday, two days after the Ahmedabad Session where it cleared the 12-page resolution.

The district presidents will be briefed about the resolution and how they could take steps to spread the message down to lower units in the first phase. A summary of the resolution in English and Hindi, an internal slide presentation, and a document containing key talking points will be shared by the central leadership for the internal orientation process.

This will be followed by district-level Congress Worker Meetings with attendance of presidents of booth and block committees and leadership of frontal organisations in a bid to “align every tier of the organization with the message and mandate of the Ahmedabad Resolution”.

Simultaneously, the state and district-level digital media teams “must begin preparing short videos, reels, and quote cards in local languages” and should be widely shared on social media platforms.

“Local leaders are encouraged to record personal messages explaining the resolution in the regional language to build authenticity and connect,” the circular said, adding that local media engagement at the local level is critical.

Besides holding press conferences and inviting media to its events, the circular said, “participation in media interviews and writing op-eds on the resolution is strongly recommended. These interactions must be used to project the clarity, conviction, and compassion embedded in our resolution.”

It has also asked the district committees to distribute pamphlets in public places like markets, community gatherings, religious congregations, and weekly fair, explaining what the resolution means for the common citizen and should highlight the Congress' vision for the future and provide a simple comparison with the failures and betrayals of the BJP-led NDA regime.

The elaborate instructions on the task to disseminate AICC Session’s message to the district presidents comes close on the heels of the Congress central leadership’s decision to make the district committees the focal point of its organisation.
