Surat textile industry hit hard due to rising inflation

Amid rising inflation, the textile industry of Surat, known for its worldwide business, is facing a huge crisis these days. The businessmen say that the continuous increase in the prices of coal and chemicals is the reason for crisis. Only in Surat, in the last 6 months, 15 dyeing mills have been closed. “The cloth industry has been affected due to inflation, buying capacity has decreased. Apart from this, input cost has increased, we cannot buy coal on credit anymore other than buying it on an immediate basis,” said J Vakharia, South Gujarat processors Association, Surat.
