<p>Moradabad: Former Member of Parliament and senior Samajwadi Party leader S T Hasan on Wednesday strongly condemned the actions of some Hindu organisations engaged in religious profiling of eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route.</p>.<p>He equated such acts with terrorism.</p>.<p>"Asking hotel staff and local vendors to reveal their names and forcing them to undress to identify their religion is no different from what terrorists did in Pahalgam. This too is a form of terrorism," Hasan told PTI.</p>.<p>He alleged that such incidents are taking place openly while the Uttarakhand government is turning a blind eye.</p>.'No provocative slogans, display of weapons': Yogi's orders for Kanwar Yatra, Muharram.<p>"It seems the state government is silently supporting these acts. In a secular country like India, this kind of behaviour is shameful. It should be stopped," Hasan said.</p>.<p>The remarks came amid reports about local Hindu outfits in several Uttarakhand cities allegedly checking the identities of eatery staff, targeting individuals suspected to be Muslims. Videos circulating on social media reportedly showed volunteers coercing people to prove their religious identity.</p>.<p>Hasan called for immediate intervention by the Central and state governments to ensure that such "communal" practices are checked.</p>.<p>The Uttarakhand government has made it mandatory for eateries on the Kanwar Yatra route to prominently display their food licences or registration certificates.</p>.<p>Owners of hotels, dhabas, food carts and stalls along the pilgrimage route will have to display a clean copy of their licence or registration certificate prominently so that consumers can easily see it, Health Secretary and Commissioner Food Safety and Drug Administration R Rajesh Kumar said.</p>.<p>This includes small traders and food cart owners as well.</p>.<p>In Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, police have summoned several activists associated with Swami Yashveer Maharaj over an incident involving the unauthorised verification of identities of eatery owners along the Kanwar yatra route, officials said on Wednesday.</p>.<p>According to New Mandi Station House Officer Dinesh Chand Bhagal, six activists have been directed to appear before police within three days for interrogation regarding their alleged involvement in conducting checks without permission from the district administration.</p>.<p>The move came after a video surfaced on social media on Tuesday showing some individuals allegedly misbehaving with staff of Pandit Ji Vishnu Dhaba.</p>.<p>The Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage during the Hindu month of Shravan, drawing thousands of devotees. </p>
