Two elephants run amok in Kerala

In Tripunithura, near here, 'Govindan', a tusker brought to the Lord Poornathreseeya shrine for performing temple duties, ran amok and jumped into the Chembakkara backwaters.
The mahout and police tried to calm the animal and after about three hours, the elephant was brought under control and it swam to the shore, police said.

In Palakkad also an elephant became restless and tried to obstruct some vehicles but was soon brought under control, officials said.
