<p>Lucknow: It’s a case where both the father and the daughter acted professionally, unbothered by its possible fallout on familial bonds.</p><p>Toufique Ahmed, a GRP constable in Bareilly, was dismissed from service by the then Inspector General of police Rakesh Singh after being found guilty of molestation in a departmental inquiry.</p><p>Toufique challenged his dismissal in the Allahabad High Court and hired Anura Singh, daughter of Rakesh Singh, as his lawyer.</p><p>Anura represented Toufique in the High Court and got the sacking order quashed.</p><p>According to the reports, Toufique was accused of ‘molesting’ a girl, a resident of Pilibhit district, in a moving train in January 2023. He was sent to jail and a departmental inquiry was ordered against him.</p><p>The inquiry officer found him guilty and recommended his dismissal from service. The IGP ordered his dismissal later.</p><p>Toufique challenged the order in the Allahabad HC. His lawyer Anura Singh contended that the inquiry committee did not have the authority to recommend dismissal and sought quashing of the order.</p><p>The court allowed the petition saying that the inquiry officer was not authorised to recommend dismissal from service. The court ordered his reinstatement.</p><p>The court, however, said that the department could order another inquiry in the matter by appointing a new inquiry officer. It also said that molestation case against the constable would continue.</p><p>Anura Singh later said that she acted professionally while her father also discharged his responsibility. Rakesh Singh also said that her daughter had a successful career in law ahead of her.</p>
