'Krishi Yantra Mela 2019' in Puttur

The fourth edition of three-day 'Krishi Yantra Mela 2019' and 'Dream Home' will be held on the campus of Vivekananda College of Engineering in Puttur from February 23 to 25, Campco president S R Satishchandra said on Thursday.

He told mediapersons at Varanashi Towers, headquarters of Campco, that the events were jointly organised by Campco (Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co-operative) Limited, Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Vivekanada Polytechnic-Puttur, Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers' Union and Puttur Association of Civil Engineers (PACE).

"The previous Krishi Yantra Mela was held in 2015."

Innovative agricultural equipment, along with designs and equipment used in low-cost housing, will be on display during the fair. The Dream Home event is being organised in association with PACE, he added.

"In order to ignite a passion towards farming among the students, the machines and equipment developed by the high school and college students will also be displayed. The projects by the students, adjudged as the best, will be awarded during the event," Satishchandra said.

Also, various sessions on related themes such as value addition in farming and low cost housing will also be held on the occasion. Those who visit the Krishi Yantra Mela can also visit the Campco Chocolate Factory nearby. Around three lakh visitors are expected to take part in the agriculture equipment fair, he added.

Campco Managing Director Suresh Bhandary M, Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha Secretary Dr K M Krishna Bhat, Vivekananda College of Engineering & Technology President Sathish Rao P, Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology Correspondent Radhakrishna Bhaktha P, Vivekananda Polytechnic, Puttur Correspondent Mahadeva Shastri and Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology Campus Director Prof Vivek Ranjan Bhandary were present.
