7,380 votes for NOTA in DK

The voters in Dakshina Kannada have not hesitated to select NOTA option while excercising their franchise. The NOTA has polled 7,380 (0.55%) votes, including five postal ballots.

In 2014 Lok Sabha election, NOTA had polled 7,109 votes. Thus, NOTA has secured fourth position among the list of candidates.

The highest number of NOTA votes were polled in Belthangady Assembly constituency--1,073 followed by Sullia—1,043, Puttur—1,010, Bantwal—980, Moodbidri—943, Mangalore City North—926, Mangalore City South—818 and Mangalore—582.

In 2014 election, the highest number of NOTA votes were polled in Sullia Assembly constituency--1,048 votes, followed by Belthangady—1,040, Puttur—910, Bantwal—888, Moodbidri—882, Mangalore City South—845, Mangalore City North—836, and Mangalore—658.

The number of votes secured by the NOTA was higher than the votes polled by independent and other candidates.

Barring BJP and Congress candidates, all other 11 candidates have lost their deposits in the election. According to the rule, the candidate gets back the deposit when he has polled votes that is equal to 1/6th of the total valid votes.
