Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Arun Jaitley trained guns at Manmohan Singh on Sunday, saying the former Prime Minister “left behind” in 2014 an economic slowdown, policy paralysis and corruption.

Jaitley's remarks came as a reaction to Singh's interview to the PTI where he said that five years of the Modi regime has ended up being “the most traumatic and devastating” for India’s youth, farmers, traders, businesses and “every democratic institution.”

“Manmohan Singh left behind in 2014 an economic slowdown, policy paralysis and corruption. He brought down his party to lowest ever strength in Parliament. India was a part of the fragile five,” Jaitley said in a series of tweets.

Sharpening his attack on the former Prime Minister, Jaitley also said when an economist turns into a politician, he looses “sense of both economy and politics.”

“Today he (Singh) regards the world’s fastest growing major economy as disastrous,” he added.
