Community projects pitching for support

Last Updated 11 March 2019, 16:16 IST

Individuals and groups with community-relevant ideas are making a pitch for support on Tuesday.

The first edition of Good Pitch Local Karnataka is slated from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm at Bangalore International Centre, Domlur.

The event is part of the Good Pitch Global programme created by Doc Society, in partnership with Sundance Documentary Institute and Ford Foundation.

The event is an opportunity for individuals and organisations in Karnataka to collaborate with media-makers and change-makers to create a positive impact within their communities, according to the hosts. Attendees offer to support select projects.

Tara Rao, local director and founding director, OurGroundWorks, says Good Pitch Local is a forum for socially relevant media projects. “The projects are selected on the basis of their usefulness to a community. We expect about 150 to 200 people in the audience to come forward and support the pitches.”

Of 110 applicants, 15 pitches have been selected for this year’s event. The subjects cover women’s and LGBTQ rights, climate change, animal protection, and textile heritage.

The applicants were assessed by a panel of judges comprising experts who are activists as well as film, media, and arts experts.

The event is hosted by OurGroundWorks in partnership with The Indian Documentary Foundation, in collaboration with Coolab and Koshys.
