‘Dadda song’ goes viral

The ‘Dadda Song’ from Rishab Shetty’s third directorial venture — ‘Sarkari Hi. Pra. Shaale, Kasaragodu, Koduge: Ramanna Rai’ — has clocked more than 3,83,000 views within a week of its release. The simple language and catchy arrangement complement the wry humour of the theme. The music has been composed by Vasuki Vaibhav.

City, NE musicians collaborate

Bengaluru-based independent musician Vishnu Ravindran Nair has collaborated with a Darjeeling-based musician Deven Gurung for his new single ‘Almost Utopia’. The raw recordings of the song were made in the hill state itself, after which the finishing touches were decided over email. “I always wanted to explore North Eastern music in its fullness as well as see how my music and themes fit in with folk music,” says Vishnu.

International recognition

The Majolly Project, headed by Neecia Majolly, recently won ‘Alternative Artist of the Year’ at the 5th International Music and Entertainment Association Awards (IMEA Awards), USA. The Majolly Project is the first Indian artiste to win in this category. The honour was for its debut album ‘Please’ which showcases the unique sound concept of The Majolly Project. The songs are unpredictable yet invoke strong personal reactions connected to each individual reality.

Band Arohi gives new twist to old classic

The Kannada devotional song ‘Shreepadaraja’ was given a new twist by the contemporary Indian fusion band ‘Arohi’ recently. Titled ‘The Dark Light’, it is also the band’s first music video. The flautist Tejasvi Raghunath says, “It was a last-minute plan; we booked a studio, came up with the entire set the next day and shot the video the day after.”
