Last Updated 21 October 2009, 20:02 IST

The wife of one of the main accused is the second woman accomplice in the case. The police said on Wednesday that there was evidence to link the two main accused, Chandrakant Talwar, 35 and Syron Rodrigues, 20, both from Goa to a homicide in Virar, Mumbai.

A badly decomposed body of a young woman was discovered on Ocotber 18. There was strong evidence to suggest that Talwar and Rodrigues had committed this crime as well, SP A V Desshpande said. The police say the two hardened criminals who were part of a gang in Goa could have killed at least six women. Were trying to verify the facts as the investigations proceed, said Deshpande.

The police have established that the minor, who was Rodrigues girlfriend had been present during the killings and the attempts to burn the bodies. The men offered the unsuspecting women a lift and later killed them purely for the little gold they were wearing.
