AAP wants to form Delhi government

Last Updated 20 May 2014, 17:34 IST

The AAP Tuesday told Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung that it wants to form the government in Delhi, and asked him not to dissolve the legislative assembly.

"We have told the Lt. Governor that we want to form the government in Delhi. We asked him not to dissolve the assembly and sought two weeks' time," a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party told IANS.

The leader, however, said since the Congress has ruled out outside support to the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP, there was not much the party could do. The AAP has 27 legislators while the Congress has eight in a house of 70.

In a letter to the Lt. Governor, the AAP said it will hold public meeting in Delhi to obtain people's opinion on forming the government. Meanwhile, Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely told IANS that the party will not support the AAP.
