Another UP BJP MLA faces rape allegation

After BJP MLA Kuldeep Senger, currently lodged in jail after being arrested on charges of raping a minor and getting her father killed, a saffron party legislator was accused of raping his maid's daughter in Uttar Pradesh's Badayun district, about 300 km from here.

The victim has lodged a complaint with the police and an investigation has been launched into it, police sources here said on Tuesday.

The victim, in her complaint, said Kushagra Sagar, the MLA from Bisauli Assembly constituency in the district, had been raping her for the past two years on the pretext of marrying her.

"When he (Kushagra) raped me for the first time, his father Yogendra Sagar (a former MLA) had assured me that he would get his son married to me the day I became a major," the victim said in her complaint.

She said Kushagra's marriage has been fixed with some other girl. "He is getting married on June 17... I will not let that happen... I shall commit suicide if he does not marry me," she said.

The victim also said the MLA had offered to settle the matter in exchange for Rs 20 lakh but she refused.

"My life is ruined... I have nowhere to go now," she said.

Police sources said the victim's mother used to work as a maid servant at the Sagar household in Badayun.

"The victim used to go there with her mother occasionally," a police official said.

A senior district police officer in Badayun said a complaint had been received against the MLA and a probe had been launched. "We will take action after the investigation is over," the officer said.
