Chhattisgarh Cong fails to meet Rahul's deadline

Chhattisgarh Congress is yet to announce its candidate for the state Assembly elections scheduled in November even after several rounds of meetings.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi during his recent visit to Chhattisgarh had announced to declare the name of candidates by August.

On Sunday, Chhattisgarh Congress state in charge P L Punia made it clear that screening committee will hold another meeting on September 7 while the list of candidates will be handed over to AICC between September 15-20. The AICC would then finalise the ticket.

In this case with the election scheduled in the month of November, Congress might declare the names in first week of October. Or the declaration might take place in last week of September in Assembly constituencies where there is no controversy over the name of candidates.
