Some opposition MLAs have been booked in connection with the unprecedented violence in the Kerala Assembly on March 13 when the LDF members went on a rampage during the presentation of budget.

On a complaint from the Assembly Secretary, an FIR has been registered against unnamed opposition MLAs and investigation initiated, police said today.

The complaint, which pegged damage caused to properties at Rs five lakh, sought action against those behind the violence when the opposition attempted to prevent Finance Minister K M Mani from presenting the budget in view of the bar bribery charges against him.

The state assembly witnessed unprecedented violence on Mar 13 as Speaker's dais was vandalised, his chair toppled, computers and loudspeakers damaged and ruling and opposition MLAs scuffled with each other.

Expressing 'deep concern' with the developments in the Assembly, state Governor P Sathasivam has yesterday said he would submit a report on the same to the President.
He had also stressed that appropriate action needs to be taken against those responsible for the 'unruly behaviour'.
