The Chief Justice of the India-led bench would on Friday hear a plea made by senior IPS officer Alok Verma against the order passed on October 23 divesting him of the charge as the CBI director.
Verma's petition has been shown as listed before a bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and K M Joseph. A similar petition by advocate Prashant Bhushan on behalf of NGO 'Common Cause' would also come up for hearing before the same bench.
Among others, both Verma and the NGO contended that the CBI director appointed with a fixed tenure of two years by a high-powered committee comprising of PM, the leader of Opposition and the CJI, cannot be transferred without its consent.
