Scaling up its campaign against the BJP for a fresh floor test in Goa, the Congress on Saturday took strong objection to ailing Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar holding a meeting of with party leaders as well as coalition allies on Friday in AIIMS calling it an “unprecedented and disturbing move”.

Parrikkar, who is undergoing treatment for a pancreatic ailment in AIIMS, held the meeting on Friday to discuss ways to ensure his government functions normally.

Crying foul over it, Goa PCC president Girish Chodankar and Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said Goa is suffering from a “complete breakdown” of the Constitution and democracy has become defunct and the BJP’s national leadership is responsible for that.

Flagging that Rahul Gandhi inquired about the health of the Goa chief minister, who has been ailing since last nine months now, the Congress while one hand wished Parrikar a speedy recovery, it also went hammer and tongs against the BJP alleging that its “sheer greed for power has plunged the state into a deep dingy abyss, where after governance has also become the final casualty.”

“In an unprecedented and disturbing move, the BJP which usurped power in Goa through backdoor, conducted a Goa Cabinet Meeting at AIIMS, Delhi on October 12. This has never happened before.

“The state is headless, governance is paralyzed, administration is crippled, there is complete breakdown of authority, rule of law has collapsed, people are feeling cheated with absolutely no policy and direction and Goa is in chaos, the Congress alleged in a statement.

The Congress rued that th BJP has not even appointed a caretaker chief minister, nor an in-charge, nor a deputy chief minister.
