A Bihar MLA on Tuesday stunned everyone in the state Assembly when he reached the House with a stethoscope and a BP machine meant to check the blood pressure of an individual.

“These days Nitish Kumar is losing his cool quite frequently. Since he is the chief minister as well as our guardian, he should not get angry at the drop of the hat at this age. So, I decided to bring along the BP machine to check his blood pressure, if he permits me to do so,” said Dr Mukesh Raushan, the RJD MLA from Mahua in Vaishali district.

Incidentally, Mukesh is a doctor by profession who won from Mahua, the erstwhile constituency of Lalu Prasad’s elder son Tej Pratap.

“Apparently, Nitish is losing his cool quite frequently due to his increased blood pressure. Being a doctor, I would like to check his BP, with his prior permission,” said the RJD MLA, Dr Mukesh.

“Either our Chacha (Uncle) Nitish is upset over winning merely 43 seats. Or, the age factor is fast catching him up. Either way, his BP needs to be under control,” the young RJD MLA quipped.

Mukesh’s jibe was aimed at Nitish as the chief minister, a day ago, rebuked an RJD MLC Subodh Rai on the floor of the House. “Sit down. Will you interrupt me when I am speaking? Is this the way? Will you not listen to me?” an angry Nitish lashed out at the RJD legislator on Monday.

Last week, Nitish had similarly reprimanded RJD MLC Sunil Singh.

Prior to this, Nitish gave a piece of his mind when he recently lashed out at the Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav and reminded him that the RJD leader had played in his (Nitish) lap when he (Tejashwi) was a tiny tot.
