Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath may have been vowing to bring 'Ramrajya' in the state but one of his own MLAs feels that even that cannot prevent incidents of rape.

Amid rising incidents of rape across the state, motormouth BJP legislator Surendra Singh once again embarrassed the state government and his party saying that even Lord Rama can't ''prevent'' incidents of rape.

''Rape is a social pollution....no one can stop it...even if Lord Rama descends on the earth, he will not be able to prevent rapes,'' Singh said on Saturday night in Ballia from where he is an MLA.

Singh did not stop there. He went on to say that the constitution too could not do ''anything'' to stop rapes. ''The only we can prevent rapes is to inculcate morality among children,'' he remarked.

It was not the first time Singh had embarrassed his own government and party by his remarks.

Earlier he had demanded to rechristen the 'Taj Mahal', the monument of love, after Lord Rama or Lord Krishna.

He also said that the roads and streets after Muslim rulers like Babar and Humayun should be re-christened after Indian icons.

Singh had once said that the character of the sex workers was a lot better than that of the government employees. ''The sex workers do their job after taking money but the government officials often do not do their work even after taking money (bribe),'' Singh had said a few months back.
