Flood affects three districts of Arunachal

Last Updated 25 September 2011, 07:34 IST

Flood in Gai Nadi due to heavy rains in upper reaches of Arunachal Pradesh had breached a portion of NH-52 near Samarajan in Dhemaji district cutting road communication with East, West and Upper Siang districts, official sources said today.

Earlier, flood ravaged parts of Arunachal Pradesh and a large area of Dhemaji district after surging water of Gai Nadi breached the same portion of the highway on August 14.

Border Roads Organisation (BRO) had temporarily plugged the breached portion and restored road communication. West Siang DC Amjad Tak said he had received a letter from Dhemaji district authority to facilitate a visit by a team comprising representatives of Dhemaji district administrative official, Assam Water Resources Department (AWRD) technocrats and media persons to see the situation.

The DC has asked the SDO Likabali to extend all help to the visiting team, sources said.
