Fog disrupts flight and delays trains in Delhi

Last Updated 14 January 2010, 17:32 IST

“Fourteen domestic flights were delayed today (Thursday) because of the fog. However, the situation improved later in the day,” an airport official said.

Similarly, many trains were rescheduled, cancelled or delayed because of the fog.
“The heavy fog cover disrupted the schedule of many trains today (Thursday) - delaying 78 of them by more than three hours. There were 28 rescheduled trains and 26 trains cancelled as well,” a Northern Railways spokesperson said.

The fog is likely to continue on Friday and may play spoilsport with the viewing of the annular solar eclipse that will be seen partially from Delhi.

“The fog will remain till forenoon tomorrow (Friday),” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

The minimum temperature recorded in Delhi on Thursday was a notch above the average at 8 degrees Celsius while the maximum was four degrees below the average at 17.1 degrees Celsius.
