Police in Idukki recovered bodies of four members of a family who had been missing for three days, from their home compound near Mundanmudy in the district.

The deceased are Krishnan (54), his wife Susheela (50), daughter Asha (21) and son Arjun (17).

Neighbours said they had not seen anyone from the family since Sunday.

After entering Krishnan’s home on Wednesday, the neighbours noticed blood stains on the walls and floors.

The bodies were found piled up in a pit dug up near a goat shed in the compound.

Informed about the findings, a police team arrived at the spot and the bodies were recovered in the presence of the Thodupuzha tahsildar.

The police team recovered a hammer and knife from the spot.

A special team under Thodupuzha DySP has been constituted to investigate the case.

A neighbour from whom the family used to buy milk saw Susheela last, on Sunday.

Reports quoting Krishnan’s neighbours said that he was involved in witchcraft.
