Goyal posts dodgy video of Vande Bharat Express

Last Updated 10 February 2019, 15:51 IST

Minister of Railways and Coal Piyush Goyal on Sunday tweeted a video of Train 18 aka Vande Bharat Express. He said, in the same tweet: "It’s a bird...It’s a plane...Watch India’s first semi-high speed train built under ‘Make in India’ initiative, Vande Bharat Express zooming past at lightening speed." The video is viewed at least 1,39 lakh times.

The video shared by Goyal seems to be shot during a trial run. However, the "lightening" speed of the train in this video is a bit altered. Twitterati caught him red-handed for sharing apparently an edited version by fastening original video.

Some even found the original video posted on YouTube on December 20 last year.

In the original video, the train can be seen running fast but not as much as in the clip shared by Goyal. It is evident that the minister's video is fast forwarded. However, he has not deleted the tweet or the Facebook post.

Twitterverse did not miss the moment to make fun of this.

The Train 18 will be run between New Delhi and Varanasi and will have stops at Kanpur and Allahabad. It can achieve a maximum speed of 180 km per hour. Railway officials have said the train has crossed the maximum speed during the trial run.

The train was manufactured at Chennai's Integral Coach Factory with a cost of Rs 97 crore.

Earlier, Goyal was caught sharing a photo from Russia to showcase the Modi government's achievement in installing street lights in India. However, he deleted the tweet later.

The first made-in-India semi high-speed train will be flagged off on February 15 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from New Delhi railway station.
