Insensitive cop rests feet on corpses dumped in jeep

Showing lack of sensitivity towards the dead, an Uttar Pradesh policeman reportedly rested his feet on dead bodies, which had been dumped in a police jeep by him.

District police officials said that the policeman, whose identity hasn't been disclosed, was suspended.

The incident occurred in the state's Kaushambi district, about 200 kilometre from Lucknow, on Thursday.

Sources said that two persons were killed in a clash between two groups at Chandupur village in the district over laying of bricks on a piece of disputed land.

The Sarai Akil police brought the situation under control.

One of the policemen dumped the two dead bodies in the jeep and sat on the seat resting his feet on the corpses— pictures of the incident have gone viral on social networking sites.

" A probe has also been initiated in the matter... It's really shameful... We will take stern action against the guilty policeman,'' said a senior police official in the district on Friday.

Earlier, there have been incidents reflecting lack of sensitivity by the state police.

A few months back, the policemen in state's Saharanpur district refused to carry a youth, who had been seriously injured in a road mishap, to hospital saying that doing so would have made their vehicle dirty.
