Man rapes, murders his girlfriend suspecting her fidelity

A 23-year-old youth has been arrested for killing his 21-year-old girlfriend after raping her at a popular resort on the outskirts of the city on Thursday evening.

However, the incident came to light after 11 pm, after the resort management alerted the Ranga Reddy district police.

The victim has been identified as Sirisha, an undergraduate student of Kummariguda village of Kothur block in the district.

According to Shankarpally Circle Inspector K Shashank Reddy, Sirisha was in love with Sai Prasad of Timmapur village for some time. However, Sai suspected that Sirisha was getting close with another man from the same village.

On Thursday, Sai took Sirisha, who was preparing for competitive examinations, to a resort at Proddatur village of Shankarpalli block, where he had booked the room online. After sexually assaulting Sirisha, Sai reportedly killed her by slitting her throat in the bathroom.

The resort’s staff noticed Sirisha lying in a pool of blood and alerted the management.

Police found Sirisha in a pool of blood with her neck slashed by a sharp weapon. The body was sent to the government hospital at Chevella after midnight for a post-mortem.

After the autopsy, the body was handed over to Sirisha’s father Eshwar, a driver working with a judge of the Hyderabad High Court, on Friday. “Two years ago I had warned Sai not to waste his life running after love in a very young age. But never thought he would kill my daughter,” Eshwar said.
