Maoist violence will be one of the main poll planks of the Congress in Chhattisgarh to highlight the “failures” of the Raman Singh-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in maintenance of law and order in the state, as it goes to the polls in two phases next month.

As the BJP is set to fight the poll on the plank of its “good governance” to retain power in the Maoist-hit state, the Congress finds no option other than to primarily bank on the issues of the law and order, as the Chhattisgarh chief minister is also an icon of development for his party.

“Raman Singh’s government has failed to protect common people in the state, which has witnessed the killing of many innocent people and security personnel in a series of Maoist attacks so far. This is going to be one of the major issues in the assembly poll next month,” a senior Congress leader told Deccan Herald.
