BJP President Amit Shah on Monday described Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu as corrupt to the core and not development oriented as he projects himself. He said this at the launching function of Bus Yatra of state BJP unit at from Vizianagaram district of north Andhra region.

“There is no iota of truth in the propaganda by the TDP and other political parties that BJP has done nothing for the state,” Amit Shah said while listing the institutions that the centre has set up in the residual state of AP as per the bifurcation Act. “We have fulfilled 10 of the 14 promises made by the centre to the state. Several national institutions of repute were established in AP during the past four and half years,” the BJP national president said.

“The quantum of assistance given to AP is up to Rs 5, 56,985 cr. The erstwhile Congress government never assisted AP in this way. I want to know why Naidu has joined hands with Congress leaving BJP which has done so much for the beleaguered state,” Amit Shah said. “I wanted to know why Naidu who ruled the state for 14 years failed to complete a single irrigation project in his Rayalaseema region,” he asked.

He reminded the cadre that it was Naidu who has accepted the special package offered by the centre and even passed a resolution in the state Assembly thanking the PM. “When Naidu realized that the centre is averse of his corruption, he simply left us and joined hands with Congress,” he said.

TDP leaders arrested in Palasa

Several TDP workers and district leaders were arrested as they tried to obstruct the BJP bus yatra in Palasa of Srikakulam district. TDP cadre raised slogans of “Modi Down Down” and “Amit Shah go back” while BJP workers responded with Jai Modi slogans. As the duel started getting out of hand, the police arrested the TDP leaders and took them into custody. “BJP which has cheated the state has no moral right to step into AP,” district leader Sirisha said. She wondered why Amit Shah did not visit the state when cyclone Titli ravaged north AP.

However, Amit Shah addressed a roadside public meeting in which he made it clear that the doors for the TDP are permanently closed.
