KCR stooge of BJP, says Congress

Last Updated 16 December 2018, 18:19 IST

Caught unawares about his decision to dissolve the state assembly, the Congress on Thursday hit back at Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao calling him a “puppet” in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a tit-for-tat response, the Congress also called Rao a “buffoon” hours after the Telangana chief minister called Congress president Rahul Gandhi a “buffoon” and an “asset for the TRS”.

“K Chandrashekhar Rao is a stooge of the BJP and is acting as a puppet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. He has betrayed the interests of the people of Telangana,” Congress’ chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told reporters here.

He said by dissolving the state assembly, Rao had insulted the mandate of the people of the state. Surjewala called the decision as a mark of arrogance by the chief minister.

“His arrogance will be punished by the people of Telangana. The Telugu people will not pardon him for siding with the BJP,” Surjewala said.

AICC in-charge of Telangana R C Khuntia hurled the choicest abuses on Rao for “insulting” the Congress president.

“Only a buffoon can say this,” Khuntia said of Rao’s remarks on Rahul.

“He (Rao) is a Hitler, a dictator. He has not visited the chief minister’s office because of superstition,” Khuntia said.
