Priyanka's response to 'Modi chant' by BJP workers

Last Updated 09 April 2019, 14:50 IST

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday responded with flowers to the chant of 'Modi-Modi' by a group of BJP workers at her roadshow on the last day of campaigning at Bijnore, about 450 kilometres from here.

According to the reports, Priyanka was holding her roadshow in support of Congress nominee Naseemuddin Siddique, when a few BJP workers started chanting 'Modi-Modi'.

A smiling Priyanka, who was atop a specially designed vehicle, threw flowers toward the saffron party workers. Apparently not expecting such a response from the Congress leader, the BJP workers were taken aback.

They, however, continued chanting 'Modi-Modi'. There was also a scuffle between the Congress and BJP workers.

Police had a tough time separating the workers of the two parties. The cops used mild force to disperse the saffron party workers, sources said.

Priyanka held roadshows in Saharanpur also and sought votes for Congress nominee Imran Masood. She was not given permission to hold roadshow in Shamli by the administration.

Both the Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka were scheduled to address election rallies in Saharanpur, Bijnore and Kairana but had to cancel them owing to unfavourable weather conditions.

Priyanka had faced a similar situation during her roadshow in Ayodhya recently also when BJP workers chanted 'Modi-Modi'. She had, however, ignored them then.
