In the aftermath of the controversy of the cash-for-appointment scam during the tenure of former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, which led to the arrest of a member of the railway board, the Railway Ministry on Monday gave additional charge of the Chairman Railway Board to the Member (Mechanical) Arunendra Kumar.
He will look after the post till a regular appointment is made for this post. The post fell vacant following the retirement of Vinay Mittal on June 30.
The seniormost member of the Board, MemberKulbhushan, has been denied the opportunity. However, he has been given additional charge of Member (Traffic).
This post is vacant for two months now.
