Andhra Pradesh 10th board exams from 7 June, with reduced syllabus

The Class 10 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board exams in Andhra Pradesh will be held between June 7 and June 16.

The schedule was released by the state's education minister Adimulapu Suresh in Amaravati on Wednesday.

The exam dates are common for regular, private and vocational candidates and will be held in a single shift from 9:30 am to 12:45 pm.

The minister said that the SSC exams will be held for seven subjects, of which three are languages, two are group subjects and two science papers.

All examinations except science will be held for 100 marks each. The physical science and biological science papers carry 50 marks each.

Considering the shortened 2020-21 academic year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, exams will be held according to the revised syllabus, reduced by 35 percent.

The last classroom day for class 10 will be 5th June.

The annual year-end examinations for students in classes 1-9 will be held between May 3 and May 10 and the last school working day will be May 15.

The summer vacation is from May 16 to June 30, and the academic year 2021-22 will begin on July 1.

“Intermediate (11, 12 standard) students of the previous academic year who were just awarded pass marks due to the pandemic situation can now appear for improvement examinations. The students can either appear for all the subjects or selected subjects” Suresh said. Exam fees for intermediate students shall remain the same as last year.

Meanwhile, the Telangana government has reduced the number of papers in Class 10 exams from 11 to six for this academic year due to the pandemic. Telangana education department had earlier announced that the SSC exams would begin from 17 May.
