Four held for parading couple naked, filming incident

In a shocking incident, a young tribal couple was assaulted and paraded naked in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan.

The incident took place at Sare Khurd village, 20 km from Jaipur, where the couple in their early twenties were living together.

The incident came to light after a video of the act was filmed and circulated on social media by the accused. The video also shows that most of the villagers were mere spectators with hardly anyone intervening or saving the couple. However, the police reached after a villager discretely informed them about the incident.

According to the police, the woman and her partner are from the Gameti community, a Scheduled Tribe, and the woman, who got married 5 years ago, is now separated from her husband.

The Gameti community live along a tribal belt near Udaipur.

On Thursday, when her first husband, Taru, came to know that she is in Sare Khurd with a man, Ramlal, he got annoyed. On Friday, Taru along with his uncle Laluram and a friend Harish assaulted the couple.

The police detained the woman's ex-husband while two of his aides are missing. The police said that a case was registered against four people - Taru, Harish, Lalaram and his wife - under relevant Sections of the IPC and the IT Act.

In June 2016, a woman and her partner were paraded naked and tied up for two days in Kanod tehsil.
