Video: TRS MLC Farooq Hussain slaps NRI lady for asking him to vacate her flat

A ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) here on Monday created a flutter by slapping a non-resident Indian woman with chappal for asking him to vacate her flat.

Video footage shows the MLC, Farooq Hussain, misbehaving with the woman and using abusive language against her. The woman has lodged a complaint with the Nampally police seeking justice.

 

“Mr Hussain took my flat for rent six years ago. Initially, he paid nominal rent. Now he even stopped paying that rent,” Ms Hantul Wasay, who lives in New York said.

She arrived in Hyderabad two days ago and went to her flat along with her brother on Monday morning to ask him to vacate. However, the lawmaker refused to vacate and asked her to do what she can. The woman threatened to meet the chief minister and expose his misdeed through media. Hussain was unrelenting.

At once stage, as she went on insisting and also faulting him for not paying the rent, Farooq showed the chappal. However, the woman alleged that the MLC had slapped her with the chappal.The NRI's brother who accompanied her, video-recorded the episode.

Nampally police inspector Sanjay Kumar says that a case has been registered under IPC sections 504- insulting, 506- criminal intimidation, 509- outraging the modesty of a woman. He said contents of the complainant are verified before proceeding with the investigation. However, Hussain remained unavailable for comments.

Farooq who had been with Congress for years, switched over his loyalties to the ruling TRS in April last year.
