Pune institute signs MoU with NIM on mountaineering

Pune-based Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering (GGIM) on Sunday signed an MoU with Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) for conducting Himalayan High-Altitude Training for students enrolling for a Diploma in Mountaineering and Allied Sports jointly conducted by GGIM and the Savitribai Phule Pune University.

The GGIM in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University had initiated the first-of-its-kind mountaineering course.

“The course consists of rigorous mountaineering training in the Sahyadris and the Himalayas as well. The high-altitude training in Himalayas will now be conducted by the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi, one of the premium mountaineering institutes in India. The MoU will help the students to get top-notch training in mountaineering in the Himalayas by highly skilled trainers,” said Umesh Zirpe, Founder-Director, GGIM, who is also an Everester.

The NIM is located in Uttarkashi, a town located in proximity to the Gangotri region in Garhwal Himalaya, a paradise for mountaineering, and offers one of the toughest and finest mountaineering training in the world.

Col. Amit Bisht, Principal, NIM, Lt. Col. Yogesh Dhumal, Vice Principal, NIM and Bhushan Harshe, Head Operations, GGIM, were present on the occasion.
