A 45-year-old man was killed by his lover for robbing Rs 50,000 in east Delhi’s Mandawali last week.

The woman later dumped the body on Geeta Colony flyover with the help of her kin and an autorickshaw driver. She paid them Rs 10,000 for the job, said the police on Tuesday.

The woman, identified as 32-year-old Poonam, has been arrested along with her uncle Virender and autorickshaw driver Satyapal. The police said the probe was initiated after a call was made to the police control room regarding a decomposed body lying on Geeta Colony flyover on February 27.

“The body was wrapped in a blanket and the legs were tied with a towel,” said Parmaditya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central). The deceased was identified as Pitampura-resident Satvinder Singh and a case was registered with Daryaganj police station.

Investigation led to Poonam, who told the police about having an illicit relation with Satvinder. She claimed Satvinder was also involved with another woman named Mamta.

Late on February 24, Satvinder went to Poonam’s house in an inebriated state carrying Rs 50,000 cash. “Poonam sought financial help from Satvinder, but he only gave her Rs 2,000. Early on February 25, she strangled Satvinder and took the remaining cash,” Parmaditya added.

The body was in Poonam’s house till evening. During the time, she approached her aunt Priya and uncle Virender, and also arranged an autorickshaw. “Poonam wrapped Satvinder’s body in a blanket and they took it on the autorickshaw. The body was dumped on the turning point towards ITO on Geeta Colony flyover,” Parmaditya said. Poonam paid Rs 5,000 to the autorickshaw driver and Rs 5,000 to Priya.

On February 26, Priya fled from Mandawali, while Poonam threw Satvinder’s mobile phone and shoes in Yamuna river. Initially, Poonam was detained on the basis of the call data record of Satvinder’s mobile phone. She was arrested over her confessional statement. “Virender and autorickshaw driver Satyapal have been arrested, but Priya is absconding,” Parmaditya added.
