Muslims staged a protest opposing the opening of a bar and restaurant in front of a masjid at Ramanahalli on Friday.

The protesters gathered at Azad Park Circle and urged the authorities to fulfil their demands.

Addressing the protesters, Maulvi Mufti Tausheer Ahmmed Sab said, “Burial ground, masjid, teachers training institute, Kendriya Vidyalaya and girl hostel are situated on Ramanahalli Main Road. The opening of a bar and restaurant will inconvenience the people.”

District Wakf Board president Atheek Khaisar said, “There is a ban on opening liquor shops near the masjid and girls hostel. The rules have been flouted while issuing permits for the same.”

A memorandum was submitted to the deputy commissioner in this regard.
