Restoration work on Sampaje Ghat on war footing

With the life in Madenadu, on the border of DK-Kodagu district limping back to normalcy after devastating flood and landslides, the work on Sampaje Ghat road is taken up on war foot basis.

The road is likely to be open for traffic within a few days. The victims who were provided shelter at relief camp have returned to their villages and are engaged in repairing the houses and farming activities.

The repair work on Sampaje Ghat road is in progress. After restoration work on the stretch is complete, the road will be opened for traffic. The work on asphlatation and concreting on a few locations are in progress.

Buses

Kodagu Deputy Commissioner P I Srividya said “To provide connectivity to the villagers to visit Madikeri for various works, mini buses operates between Koinadu -Madikeri by Madikeri KSRTC depot. The mini bus services commenced even when the road work is in progress.”

The DC said that traffic will be allowed on Sampaje Ghat after getting technical reports from the department officials.

The KSRTC buses from Mangaluru operate till Koinadu and return back. From Koinadu, passengers travel in mini buses to Madikeri and later to Mysuru and Tamil Nadu. In the meantime, the KSRTC also operates mini buses to Madikeri from Karike via Bhagamandala-Madikeri.

NH Executive Engineer said “the work on Sampaje Ghat is in progress. The decision on allowing the vehicles on the stretch will be taken after discussing with the Deputy Commissioner.”
