Indian team on Thursday denied reports that they summoned the director of SuperSport, the host broadcaster, for showing a clip of Virat Kohli getting hit on the ribs with the caption ‘softened up.’

“Once rain stopped play (during the third one-dayer at SuperSport Park on Wednesday) we did meet the producer of Super Sport but it was for discussing something else and not about the clip of Virat,” said an official communication from the Indian team management.

A website reported the Indian team management had sought an explanation from the official on Wednesday for showing a sequence of clips from the first one-dayer at the Wanderers.

The clip began with Kohli getting hit by a Morne Morkel bouncer while trying to play a pull shot, and then continued on to show the Indian batsman holding an ice-pack on the area, while replaying the pull in slow-motion.

Apparently, the clips didn’t go down well with the Indian team management, and the website reported that it had asked the broadcaster to come to the dressing room and give an explanation.
