2 arrested over pro-Pak slogans

Another incident of slogans being raised in favour of Pakistan has come to fore here.

Two youths were thrashed by local residents for allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans at Kamat Galli here and were handed over to the police on Sunday.

The suspects, along with two associates, raised the slogan ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and burst crackers at around 3.30 pm. The local residents caught hold of the two and beat them, while the other two managed to escape from the clutches of the people. The residents handed over the two youths to the police.

Since the accused were bleeding, the police took them to the district hospital, where they were provided treatment. The police took them into custody, booked a case of sedition against them and also arrested them, said Assistant Commissioner of Police (market sub-division) N V Barmani. The police are on the lookout for the two other suspects.

The suspects are Saif Ayub Patel (22), a resident of Asadkhan Society at Veerbhadra Nagar and Ayub Basir Mulla (19), a resident of Kaligar Galli in Belagavi. Tension prevailed at the spot for some time. The Market police have registered a case.
