Officials of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) from Mumbai and Chennai visited Dharwad recently and collected information related to bomb blasts at the Chennai Central Railway Station.

According to sources, the ATS team had come to the city based on information provided by two of the three youths suspected to be involved in terror activities and arrested in Hyderabad. During interrogation, the duo had claimed that they were from Uttar Pradesh and that they had stayed in Dharwad earlier. Sources said the three youths, Anand, Arvind and Kishan, had rented a house at Arogya Nagar in Tejaswi Nagar for six months and informed the owner, Shivaji Kulkarni, that they were merchants from UP. The trio had vacated the house in May this year.

The youths used to make international calls and send international e-mails to various destinations. Based on the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computers from where the e-mails were sent, the ATS officials visited a cyber cafe to unearth more details.

Highly placed sources in the police department said the ATS team also visited an STD booth in the locality and collected evidence. However, the local police were not kept in the loop and they had no information about their arrival. The incident has sent a shock wave among neighbours.
