Bellary DC to complain against MP

Last Updated 07 March 2013, 18:55 IST

Deputy commissioner and election officer A A Biswas has said that he will lodge a complaint against Lok Sabha member J Shantha for levelling false allegations against him.

It all began on Thursday with J Shantha blaming the deputy commissioner for ‘deleting’ her name from the voters’ list. The  MP had obtained an election identity card by furnishing her address as second cross, Devinagar.

Shantha  arrived at the polling booth for 34th ward and found that her photograph was printed opposite the name ‘Thippamma.’

The MP soon launched a tirade against the deputy commissioner claiming that he had been conspiring against the lone woman Lok Sabha  member from Karnataka.

However, the election officer clarified that the MP was now residing in the government bungalow which comes under ward number 1 and hence her name was in the voters’ list of that particular ward. Shantha later exercised her franchise in ward number 1.

The DC, in a press statement, has said that the MP levelled allegations against him to influence voters and he would lodge a complaint against her to the State and Central Election Commission and Parliament Secretariat.
