BJP's margin now just 52K in Shimoga: Madhu Bangarappa

Madhu Bangarappa, who unsuccessfully contested the bypoll to the Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency, said that lack of adequate time to chalk out political strategies proved disadvantageous for the coalition partners in the electoral battle.

"However, we have succeeded in reducing the victory margin of BJP drastically," said Madhu.

Speaking to media persons in Shivamogga on Tuesday, after the announcement of bypoll results, Madhu said former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had won Shimoga seat on BJP ticket in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls by a margin of 3.63 lakh votes. But now, it has come down to 52,148 votes.

He also made it clear that he does not blame anybody for the defeat as leaders and workers of Congress party campaigned extensively in favour of JD(S).

When asked about the candidate for the next Lok Sabha polls, Madhu said the leaders of both the parties will take a call on the candidate, adding that he would work in the Lok Sabha constituency for the candidate selected by coalition partners.
