Congress MLA from Vijayanagar (Hospet), who was injured in a brawl with Kampli MLA J N Ganesh in a resort in Badadi, was on Thursday diagnosed with fractures around his eyes. Meanwhile, in a purported Facebook post, Ganesh sought to shift the blame on Singh for the incident.

Singh, who is also being treated for injuries to his ribs and chest at Apollo Hospital, was taken to Narayana Nethralaya for treatment to his eye injuries. Dr K Bhujang Shetty, chairman and MD of the hospital, said the bone around the right eye was fractured because of which the MLA has developed double vision.

“The bone surrounding the right eyeball is fractured resulting in the double vision at certain angles. Besides, there is also some external bleeding which will take 10-5 days to heal. Both the eyelids are swollen because of the injury but that has not caused any harm to his eyesight. Currently, he is put on medication for a week and if the fracture and double vision do not stabilise, we will have to consider surgery,” Dr Shetty revealed in a statement.

Meanwhile, absconding MLA Ganesh’s purported Facebook post which surfaced on Thursday, claims that it was Singh who first abused and assaulted him at the Eagleton Resort on January 20.

In a post on ‘Kampli Congress’ page (unverified), Ganesh is seen appealing to voters of Kampli to take into account his version, and give him the benefit of the doubt. The post, which is written in first person, has claimed that Hagaribommanahalli MLA Bheema Naik was witness to the incident.

The post states that Singh, with whom Ganesh had consumed liquor, had threatened and abused him in a room. “Singh’s claims are false. He made me sit on the floor and declared that he had ensured my defeat during the previous election. He subjected me to verbal abuse and caste-based discrimination. He later kicked me on my chest, after which I left for my room.”

The post says Singh came and pulled Ganesh out of his room and forcibly took him to Naik’s room. “He lashed out at Naik for insulting him during previous the Congress Legislature Party meeting, and asked him to apologise to him in front of all the Congress leaders. When Singh tried to rough up Naik, I intervened and tried to pacify them. But Singh tore my shirt and broke my right thumb. At this point, I retaliated,” the post says.
